Dog Bites Child Again

"It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog."

Well, Mark Twain would have to agree that Gordy Jamison's mixed Chow may have a little too much fight in him. On Thursday police ticketed Jamison after his dog bit a 6-year-old child. This is the second occurance of this dog bitting a small child, but last time Jamison only recieved a citation for a leash violation.

School Shuts Down Restaurant

The Ticonderoga County school has decided to shut down the Eatery on State Street, which has been open for a decade. This school owned restaurant was a place where special-education students worked and learned about the food-service industry. The school obviously needed to cut some areas of the budget due to the recent recession. The Eatery will be closed at the end of this school year.

Restaurant Car Crash Leads to Death

Shortly after noon today a car crashed into the front window of the Subway Central restaurant causing one patron, John Barker, to suffer a fatal heart attack. The brakes failed in the car and the driver, Annie Coulter, swerved to avoid pedestrians. The driver was injured. However, no other injuries were reported.

High School Baseball Coach Forced to Resign

Rickey Rust was recently forced to resign as head baseball coach at Ticonderoga County High School. Although, the team often won in the 12 years he was coaching, Rust will no longer be allowed to coach for unknown reasons.

Officials Battle Over Keeping the Ten Commandments

Ticonderoga County officials are asking the question "What Would Jesus Do?" They are fighting a legal battle against Midville attorney John O'Kelly to keep the Ten Commandments on display in the Ticonderoga County Courthouse. O'Kelly has only stepped foot in front of the religious relic once, but obviously feels that it is unnecessary to have on display in another town's courthouse.

Elizabeth City Residents Decide if a Hotel is Necessary

On June 5 the town population of Elizabeth City will vote on whether they approve of using public funds for a new downtown hotel and convention center. There is no actual recommendation for this project. However, the town officials believe it is necessary to put on the ballot to see if the public agrees with this new project idea.

Family Farms are Becoming Extinct

The family owned farms in Ticonderoga County have slowly begun disappearing in the past 40 years. In 1985 there were more than 800 working farms in the county, that number has been decreasing over the years. Agricultural officials believe there is no coming back from this issue.

provocative The American automobile competitors of Ford are kicking themselves now. Ford boasts an over one billion profit for the third quarter while other other companies are going bankrupt. Cash for Clunkers maybe just the thing the Ford company needed this year.
